Abraham Lincoln’s “Five-Legged Sheep” Mug (FREE SHIPPING)

$20.00$22.00

In September of 1862, Abraham Lincoln met with a group of religious leaders in Wisconsin.  They wanted him to sign the Emancipation Proclamation, but Lincoln was hesitant at first because he knew that the South would ignore the proclamation and that it would have no effect other than to inflame tensions further between the North & South.  His issue was a conflict between what was said, and what was reality.  He ultimately signed the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing the slaves in word, but it took the lives of thousands to turn those words into reality in the bloodiest conflict the US had seen up to that point. This mug echoes his words, but presents them in a modern restatement where we again are split between what some people think is true, and what reality is. If a man, who has no idea what it is like to “be” a woman, suddenly declares himself to be one, does that make it so? No.  He may as well say that he has five legs.
